"Are there issues in Kenya that have been triggered by British imperialism and still persist until this day? And if that is so, should the British feel guilty about their empire? Or can they be proud of it instead?" This blog is supposed to give you some answers to these questions as well as some insight to basic concepts and ideas about Africa in general. Read the questions and the comments that some Kenyan students have posted. Also have a look at the corresponding links on the right side.

I believe Africa would still have developed even if the white man had not come. And I think our country has shown a very fast development although we have been exploited a lot. We might still be a developing nation, but we are getting there - step by step.
I think this question is (sorry to say so) kind of stupid. We will never know how Africa would have developed if colonialism hadn't taken place. So, why even pose the question? There is no answer.
All we know is that Africa has had to develop much faster than your countries in Europe. Within a century our trading system was transformed into a money economy, cities have become bigger and many people migrated into them leaving empty fields behind, many people have forgotten about their ancestral roots and beliefs, our values have changed,...
Considering that we had to adapt to so many changes, I don't think we did a bad job. Sure, some things still have to be improved, but, you know, it also took Europe centuries to become what is has become, why shouldn't we use some more time for improvement?!
